Sample contentThis example guide previews the format and reading experience.

What you’ll accomplish

Write the assignment before refining the prompt. State the task, supply the relevant context, name the audience, set the constraints, and show the output format. Add one short example and review the result against the brief.

Key takeaways

  • Define the task, context, audience, constraints, and format.
  • Use a short example to show the qualities you want to preserve.
  • Ask for a specific revision and check it against the source.

“Write a post about my offer” leaves a lot unanswered. Who is it for? What does the offer include? Which claims can you support? What should the reader do next?

Give AI those answers before asking for the draft.

Build the brief in five parts

  1. Task: Name the job. Draft a launch post, compare two headlines, or turn an outline into an opening.
  2. Context: Supply the facts the work depends on. Include the actual offer, source notes, or approved outline.
  3. Audience: Describe who needs the result and what they already know.
  4. Constraints: List what to preserve, avoid, or flag for review.
  5. Format: Show the structure, length, and intended next action.

Put the brief into a prompt

Here is an illustrative starter for a creator announcing a resource:

Draft a launch post using only the resource details below.
Audience: solo creators looking for a practical way to plan their content.
Structure: a two-sentence opening, three useful details, and one next step.
Use short sentences and concrete examples.
Do not invent results, testimonials, prices, or availability.
Flag missing details in a separate list for my review.

Approved resource details: [paste the facts]
Next step: [the action and destination you have confirmed]

Replace the bracketed fields before you run it. If availability is undecided, resolve that before publishing a launch announcement.

Show what good sounds like

Add a short writing sample you own or have permission to use. Name the qualities to carry over: direct opening, plain language, or a concrete next step. Keep facts from the sample separate from facts about the new assignment.

Make the revision precise

Try: “Cut the opening to two sentences. Replace the vague benefit with the example in my notes. Keep the final link unchanged.”

Then compare the revision with the brief. An instruction to avoid inventions still needs a human check.

Your next move: Take a prompt you use often. Fill in the five parts, run it again, and record which parts of the answer still need correction.

Put one idea to work.

Pick a real task. Try what you’ve learned, check the result, and build from there.
